Repairing and Cleaning Headstones
With many of the grave sites in the excess of 100 years old, there is the need for substantial repair throughout the cemetery. Deteriorated stone walls, broken or tipped stones, and vegetation overgrowth is prevalent especially in the older section of the cemetery. City staff has undertaken the repairs and as needed, made contact with restoration professionals seeking safe and affordable means to do the work.
While many of the sites no longer have family members to care for the stones, the projects will be undertaken by city staff and volunteers as time and funding allows.
